Lung UPC formed in 1992. Initially called just "Lung" the band added UPC so as not to be confused with a New Zealand group of the same name. No-one really new what UPC stood for but "universal production conspiracy" was mentioned! The first form of Lung UPC was active from 1992 to 1996 which was an intense period of jamming, recording and live performance. Live, the improvised industrial noise was a bit of a phenomenon on the Melbourne live scene.
